Here is a list of
mascots that are no longer in existence. A part of the past that will never be
again. I found most of extinct mascots searching the internets and we all know
how reliable that is. It is hard to verify if all of these are correct or not.
If you have any corrections, additions or comments please let me know. Thanks.

DeleteHow about the Hettinger Shooting Stars? That was the name of the basketball team, before it was consolidated with Black Devils, the football name. I played football with the Black Devils, basketball with the Shooting Stars. My son and daughter played for the Reeder Rockets. My wife was a cheerleader for the Taylor Redbirds. My first call as a pastor was at Max where I cheered for the Cossacks. My last call was at Cando where I cheered for the Cubs.
ReplyDeleteThat is crazy. Thanks. Added.

DeleteCan you correct Monango Cougars to Monango Bison. While Monango/Fullerton became Dickey Central in 1977, Monango was never the Cougars. I wish I could remember what Fullerton's mascot was before the merge. They weren't on the list.
ReplyDeleteCorrected. Thanks.
DeleteForbes Hi-Liners
ReplyDeleteThanks. Added.
DeleteFullerton Blue Devils
DeleteThanks again. got it added.
DeleteAwesome list I loved the read. Could add McVille Black Hawks. Girls may have been Bomb Shells for a short time but I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Added.
DeleteFordville-Lankin Flyers.
ReplyDeleteMinto Rockets
Midway Monarchs
Midway was formed as a consolidated school in the 60s. Original members were the Gilby Roughriders, the Forest River Cardinals, and the Inkster Indians.
Midway-Minto now co-op in most sports and play as the Mustangs.
Thanks for the info. I believe I have everything correct now.
DeleteThe Northwood Trojans and Hatton Flyers changed their name to the Northwood Hatton Thunder when they formed their Sports COOP.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.northwoodk12.com/home/apparel
Does Hatton still use flyers for baseball?
DeletePembina wildcats and the Bathgate atoms
ReplyDeleteThanks. Got them added.
DeleteHamilton Tigers
ReplyDeleteThanks. Added.
DeleteTolna Trojans, not Tigers
ReplyDeleteThanks for the correction. Made the change.
DeleteMax is still the Cossacks
ReplyDeleteThanks for the clarification.
DeleteNiagara Bulldogs
ReplyDeleteNiagara Wildcats
Niagara was included in the Unity School District consortium which included Petersburg and Dahlen.
Thanks. Do you happen to remember the names for Petersburg and Dahlen?
DeletePetersburg was the Vikings. I believe Dahlen was the Dragons if I remember right
DeleteDeering Rockets and Landa Vikings
ReplyDeleteThanks. Got them down.
DeleteAlso, Nelson County North Panthers.
ReplyDeleteThanks again.

DeleteWillow City
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame Academy Blue Knights
Willow city was who?
DeleteWillow City
DeleteRed Wings - public school.
Blue Knights - Catholic school.
I attended the Catholic school until it closed in 1968.
Notre Dame Academy.
Grades 1 - 12. Boarding school.
I'm pretty sure the Alexander Comets are back again. A few years ago they ended their coop with Watford City and even started up a 7 man football team. They play mostly MT schools. I could be wrong though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the correction.
DeleteSanborn Panthers
ReplyDeleteStreeter Bobcats
ReplyDeleteWhat was werner nd mascot name?
