Forgotten High School Mascots of North Dakota

Here is a list of mascots that are no longer in existence. A part of the past that will never be again. I found most of extinct mascots searching the internets and we all know how reliable that is. It is hard to verify if all of these are correct or not. If you have any corrections, additions or comments please let me know. Thanks.

  2. Munich was Magic Storm with starkweather before the current co-op with Langdon as the Cardinals

  3. How about the Hettinger Shooting Stars? That was the name of the basketball team, before it was consolidated with Black Devils, the football name. I played football with the Black Devils, basketball with the Shooting Stars. My son and daughter played for the Reeder Rockets. My wife was a cheerleader for the Taylor Redbirds. My first call as a pastor was at Max where I cheered for the Cossacks. My last call was at Cando where I cheered for the Cubs.

    1. Thanks. Added. I have always wondered why that name was used.

  7. Can you correct Monango Cougars to Monango Bison. While Monango/Fullerton became Dickey Central in 1977, Monango was never the Cougars. I wish I could remember what Fullerton's mascot was before the merge. They weren't on the list.

  8. Awesome list I loved the read. Could add McVille Black Hawks. Girls may have been Bomb Shells for a short time but I'm not sure.

  9. Fordville-Lankin Flyers.
    Minto Rockets
    Midway Monarchs
Midway was formed as a consolidated school in the 60s. Original members were the Gilby Roughriders, the Forest River Cardinals, and the Inkster Indians.

Midway-Minto now co-op in most sports and play as the Mustangs.

  10. The Northwood Trojans and Hatton Flyers changed their name to the Northwood Hatton Thunder when they formed their Sports COOP.

  18. I'm pretty sure the Alexander Comets are back again. A few years ago they ended their coop with Watford City and even started up a 7 man football team. They play mostly MT schools. I could be wrong though.
